Photography Collaborations with Brent Hirak
A couple of weeks into the COVID-19 shutdown, I got a message from photographer Brent Hirak, with whom I’ve done a number of photo performances at the Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center in Denton, Texas. He wrote: “We should shoot against the backdrop of all this…Your dance, an only way to reach some understanding…” We worked entirely on instinct and our trust in each other from previous projects. What we produced together surprised and disturbed us, even as it felt like a genuine expression of the pandemic.
